Only Fools and Horses

BBC: The Only Fools and Horses, EastEnders and Holby City star who married a Jurassic Park legend

During the first series of Only Fools, Del was reunited with an old girlfriend, although it didn't end well

Despite Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter having some luck with the ladies of Peckham, it wasn’t until he found love with Raquel Turner that he settled down. It could have all been so different though as Del previously told grandad and Rodney that he was going to marry someone else.

Only Fools and Horses fans were left cringing when Heather broke his heart in the 1982 Christmas special, and we all loved bubbly June Snell although it was a shame the pair only appeared in two episodes together. But life could have turned out very different for Del Boy if he’d progressed his relationship with an old flame.

During the first series of Only Fools, Del was reunited with an old girlfriend, although it didn’t end well. The Second Time Around episode kicks off when Del is surprised to see one of his former flames back in Peckham after a 12 years absence.

His ex-fiancée Pauline Harris wastes no time in getting back underneath his skin as she kisses him over the table in The Nags Head, how romantic! After going back out of a date Del Boy returns to Nelson Mandela House and announces he’s going to marry Pauline, to the shock of Grandad and Rodney who is convinced she’s a gold digger and killer, after she admitted her last two husbands are dead.

Pauline moves into the Trotter’s flat and becomes a tyrant but after some convincing from Trigger, the Trotters do a runner from the penny pincher and head to Clacton.

The role of Pauline Harris was played superbly by renowned actor Jill Baker. The 70-year-old has starred in a long list of TV series including Casualty, Happy Valley, Holby City, Midsomer Murders, Touch of Frost, and The Bill.

Between 2014 and 2015 the TV star played Margot Summerhayes, the mother of DC Emma Summerhayes, in EastEnders who was dating Max Branning.

She’s also had roles in movies including Notes on a Scandal, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, and Shakespeare in Love – to name a few. And it seems acting runs in her family as Jill’s husband Bob Peck was also an award-winning actor.

Bob is well known as Robert Muldoon in 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park as the game warden who’s proficient with weaponry and a skilled hunter. He also has a long list of TV and film credits including The Canterbury Tales, The Scold’s Bridle, FairyTale: A True Story, The Merchant of Venice, Hard Times, Centrepoint, and many more.

Jill and Bob married in 1982 and had three children, but sadly Bob died in 1999 just aged 53 following a battle with cancer.
