Only Fools and Horses’ Cassandra Trotter has returned to the Nag’s Head for an 83p pint 40 years on – and you can too
Only Fools fans can bag a bargain pint for '1980s prices' at the Nag's Head pop-up for the next three days
Only Fools and Horses star Gwyneth Strong has returned to the show’s iconic pub for an 83p pint, 40 years after it first aired.
Gwyneth, aka Rodney’s wife Cassandra, went to bag one of the bargain ‘1980s prices’ pints on draft at the new Nag’s Head in Central London this week.
Philip Pope, who played Tony Angelino, and Andree Bernard, who played barmaid Nervous Nerys, joined Gwyneth at the pub for a celebratory pint for the show’s 40th anniversary.
The pop-up pub, courtesy of Comedy TV channel Gold, opens to the public today for three days only – Thursday, September 2, Friday September 3, and Saturday, September 4.
In a true 80s throwback, visitors can get one of the classic 1980s tipples from the show – including Crème de la Menthe and Britvic Orange.
Or you can wash down a nostalgic bar snack of pork scratchings, scampi fries or cheeselets with a temptingly cheap pint.
In proper homage to the series, the Nag’s Head has been recreated to be true to its original on-screen look, right down to every last detail.
Gwyneth said: “I can’t believe it’s been 40 years since the show first aired.
“There is such a loyal fan base and they are going to love this, it’s like going back in time and being back in the original pub!”
From the striped wallpaper and chequered floor to the framed pictures, stuffed rabbit, horse bronzes and trinkets which adorned Del and Rodney’s local boozer, Only Fools’ fans will feel right at home.
Pub patrons will even find the Trotter’s 1972 Reliant Rebel Supervan III parked outside.
Nostalgic fans will be able to reminisce over some of the show’s most memorable moments in the pub, from Rodney and Cassandra’s wedding reception to Uncle Albert’s infamous birthday party, all whilst sipping on an umbrella-adorned cocktail.
Gerald Casey, Gold channel director, said : “W e’re excited to be celebrating 40 years of Only Fools and Horses, the nation’s favourite sitcom, with our recreation of the iconic Nags Head pub.
“We can’t wait to bring some classic Del Boy and Rodney moments to fans young and old when we air every episode the series, starting 8th September on the Gold channel.
“Cheers! ”
The pop-up pub is open 12-9pm on Roger Street in central London (postcode WC1N 2PB) throughout 2, 3 and 4 of September – the exact location will be confirmed to ticket holders.
